ELSA Warsaw

What is ELSA?

The European Law Students’ Association ELSA is the biggest independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization of law students and young lawyers.

ELSA was founded on 4th May 1981 in Vienna by students from Poland, Austria, Hungary and West Germany. Right now it has more than 30 000 active members: law students and young lawyers from 43 European countries. In Poland, ELSA is present in 16 cities where law faculties can be found: Białystok, Gdańsk, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź, Olsztyn, Opole, Poznań, Rzeszów, Słubice, Szczecin, Toruń, Warszawa and Wrocław. More than 1500 Polish law students and young legal practitioners are its active members.

ELSA maintains and constantly fosters its relations with law students and young lawyers from all the continents and countries of the world, including the USA, Africa, South America and Japan. We cooperate with other students’ associations and also everyone who shares our ideas and goals. ELSA’s philosophy statement sets us a task to create “A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity”. We wish to develop understanding and respect of other people and legal cultures among our members.

ELSA Warsaw

The history of our Local Groups, ELSA Warsaw, dates back to 1989.

ELSA Warsaw is an elite, though not an exclusive group. All the law students who prove to be active and dedicated during a 3-month waiting period can become members. It means that our membership is not granted automatically and it cannot be obtained simply by expressing willingness to join the Association.

Right now ELSA Warsaw has almost 200 active members who are law students from several law faculties of various universities, including the University of Warsaw, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and Kozminski University.
Together we form a strong and well-organized team which every year carries out numerous local and national projects that always can boast the highest quality, eminent guests and known speakers. Our activity is coordinated by four statutory sections.

How to join ELSA?

It’s very easy! Fill in our declaration of membership (do not forget aboutdouble-sidedprinting) and come to a meeting of one of our four sections. After three months of active participation in our projects you are going to become a member of our ELSA Local Group 🙂
Don’t hesitate and join us!

Regular meetings of our sections take place on:
